A young Maryborough couple barely slept a wink on the weekend after discovering they won a division one prize of almost a million dollars in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.
The Queensland players held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3987 on Saturday 5 October 2019. Each division one winner takes home a prize of $973,232.37.
Sharing her excitement with a Golden Casket official this morning, the winning woman relived the moment she made the incredible revelation.
“Thank you so much,” she laughed.
“I checked my ticket online after the draw and discovered I’d won.
“I was absolutely shocked.
“I told my husband and he said, ‘no way, this can’t be real! This must be a joke’.
“We have been in a complete state of shock these past couple of days.
“I have barely slept a wink. I have just been too excited.
“It is amazing. It is completely unbelievable.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the young woman admitted she’d spent the weekend dreaming of what to do with it.
“We went out for a nice lunch and had some champagne on the weekend to celebrate and plan how we will use our prize,” she said.
“We are only a young family, so this will be such a big help.
“We’ve decided we want to buy a holiday home to enjoy with our family, go on a much-needed holiday and we will share it with our family.”
The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their 50-game QuickPick winning entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3987 on Saturday 5 October 2019 were 34, 33, 20, 36, 12 and 4, while the supplementary numbers were 10 and 23.
