A Grovedale man who won a $10,000 top prize on the first Instant Scratch-Its ticket he’s ever bought can’t wait to fix his car and get back on the open road.
The winning $1 Cash O’Lantern Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Grovedale News, Lotto & Post, 19 Peter Street, Grovedale.
The Geelong man told an official from The Lott he was still coming to terms with scratching a top prize on his ticket.
“This was just a one-off!” he exclaimed.
“I’ve never bought an Instant Scratch-Its ticket before. It just seemed like a good idea at the time.
“I was back at home when I scratched it. I had to check it several times as I wasn’t quite sure. I was flabbergasted by the sheer luck of it!
“It’s come at the perfect time. The transmission’s just broke on the car so this will help with that.”
Grovedale News, Lotto & Post owner Josie McCann said selling a top prize winning ticket had given her and her team a welcome boost.
“We are very happy that one of our customers has been so fortunate, and we hope that it brings much joy and the ability to have a bit of a guilt-free splurge,” she said.
“We have owned Grovedale News, Lotto and Post for more than 10 years, and during this time we have sold quite a few division two tickets and one division one ticket.
“It’s wonderful to know that the wins are back. This Instant Scratch-Its win is true confirmation that dreams do come true and we hope a little magic happens to more of our customers before the end of the year.”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
