A Queanbeyan man is eager to upgrade to a new set of wheels after the revelation he won $200,000 in last week’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The New South Wales resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1666 on Wednesday 1 May 2024.

“Exciting stuff, mate!” the man exclaimed after he’d whistled in surprise.

“It’s all a bit surreal.

“I’ve been playing Lucky Lotteries for a long time – probably about 30 years. Normally I just get a ticket each week.

“On the weekend, I went to check my ticket. I’d just had it in my wallet and I had no idea!

“I’m still in a bit of a haze.

“It feels good to win! This will come in very, very handy.

“I’m about due to get a new car so that will help me do that and pay off a few bills.”

The man’s winning entry of one random number was purchased at Karabar Newsagency, Shop 6, Karabar Shopping Mall, 6-8 Southbar Road, Queanbeyan.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $18.28 million for draw 1669, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.28 million for draw 10850.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2023, more than 122.7 million wins took home more than $3.76 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Monday & Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
