A Wollongong woman has brought forward her retirement and is eagerly eyeing overseas travel after winning $100,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries draw.

The Illawarra resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10845 on Monday 8 April 2024.

“It’s just the best feeling ever,” the winning woman declared when speaking to an official from The Lott.

“For years, I’ve been buying one number at a time into consecutive draws. I’ve won little bits and pieces, but this is the first substantial one.

“It’s a bit hit and miss when I check my tickets – very sporadic.

“I thought, ‘I’ve got some tickets in my purse’, so I decided to check them.

“I’d been carrying around one worth $100,000 for a couple of weeks unbeknownst to me!

“When they told me it was the big one, I was just in disbelief.

“It will bring forward retirement by about a year. That’s a very nice prospect to look forward to.

“It also means I can have a nice trip overseas to visit family.

“It just makes things easier.”

The woman’s winning entry of one random number was purchased at Gwynneville Post, Lotteries & Art Hub, Shop 3, 186 Gipps Road, Gwynneville.

Gwynneville Post, Lotteries & Art Hub retail manager Nathan Haynes said it was a surreal moment when he first realised his outlet had sold a 1st Prize winning ticket.

“I had to reread the message a few times for it to sink in!” he said.

“We have a very close-knit community and everyone gets excited when they win even a small amount, so knowing that we have a $100,000 winner means there will be plenty of happy faces all round.

“We’ve only sold two major prize winning tickets during the past eight years so this one is extra special for us all

“A big congratulations to our winner. Here’s hoping it is one of our regulars that totally deserve this life-changing prize.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $17.3 million for draw 1655, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.02 million for draw 10848.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2023, more than 122.7 million wins took home more than $3.76 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Gold Lotto, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
