A Narrabri mum has found the perfect antidote for a bad day – scoring the Set for Life division one prize of $20,000 every month for the next 20 years.
The winner held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Set for Life draw 2262, drawn Friday 15 October 2021. She takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
There have been two division one wins in the New England region so far in 2021 worth more than $8.13 million. This is also the second Set for Life division one win to land in New South Wales in just one week.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the New South Wales woman relayed how the excitement unfolded.
“I had a really bad day on Friday. I was feeling miserable actually,” she explained.
“So, I went and saw my daughter and just talked it all through. I was quite tired when I got home, so I sat on the couch and decided I’d quickly check my Set for Life tickets on The Lott app.
“As soon as I clicked on my ticket, I saw confetti fall from the screen and then I noticed the division one win. I screamed so loud and then burst into tears.
“I ran straight into my son’s bedroom and woke him up to tell him. He just looked at me and said, ‘No way mum. You’re dreaming. Go back to bed.’.
“I called my daughter and sent her a photo of the ticket to double check for me. She was so shocked. She just kept saying, ‘Mum, you’ve won! You’ve really won!’.
“I didn’t sleep a wink that night. I stayed up chatting on the phone to my daughter. We kept talking about what to do with the money and how much it’ll change all our lives.
“We definitely cried and screamed a lot that night! We all did once we realised it was true.
“Honestly it hasn’t sunk in. I keep pinching myself! It feels like a dream.
“I keep making jokes about how I am a rich bi*** now!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the emotional woman revealed a sleepless night allowed for plenty of planning.
“I love my job so much, so I definitely won’t quit. Plus, I would get bored if I quit,” she shared.
“The first thing any parent wants to do is help their kids, so that’s exactly what I will do.
“I might look at buying a new house, or maybe a new car too. I will save a lot of it for my retirement too!
“It has taken away so many worries and pressures. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders, which is just incredible.”

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2262 on Friday 15 October 2021 were 6, 30, 17, 40, 22, 21 and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 1.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Set for Life draw 2262 – one from New South Wales and one from Western Australia.
This marks the 85th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 15th Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 361 so far this calendar year, including 743 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, there were 16 Set for Life division one winners across Australia who will receive $76.8 million during the next 20 years.
By the end of FY21, $53.8 million in monthly payments of $20,000 had been paid to the 79 Set for Life division one winners across Australia since 2015.
