A Ballarat workplace has an extra agenda item to discuss at their Monday morning meeting today- their syndicate’s $1.6 million win in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The private syndicate of 16 colleagues held one of the 12 division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto draw 3995, drawn Saturday 2 November 2019. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,666,666.67.

When a Tatts official made contact with the syndicate leader this morning, he couldn’t contain his excitement.

“I’ve been expecting your call,” he laughed.

“This is a private syndicate with 15 other people. It’s a workplace thing and something we’ve been running for over a decade.

“The biggest win we’ve ever won with this entry before was $1,000 about six years ago. Some of the syndicate members kept thinking it was never going to happen so it was great to break the news to them.

“I’m just so delighted.

“I was sitting at home on Saturday night and I thought I would just check the numbers. That’s when I saw six numbers in a row. I kept very quiet for a while and waited for the dividend to come up.

“I didn’t realise it was a $20 Million Superdraw, which clearly made the dividend bigger than it might have been.”

The syndicate leader shared the work colleagues had already begun planning how they would use their share of the prize.

“I had a lot of fun telling the other syndicate members that we’d won. A few of us got together yesterday to celebrate,” he said.

“We’re a diverse group of people of all ages. Some are going to use it to help buy their first homes, others are going to enjoy an overseas holiday and some are building a nest egg for retirement,”  he said.

“Everyone is absolutely rapt!”

The syndicate members, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning marked 10-game entry at Williams Newsagency, 917 Sturt Street, Ballarat.

Williams Newsagency owner Bruce Thomson said his outlet was happily celebrating as if he had won the division one prize himself.

“We were so excited to hear we had sold a division one winning entry, especially being a Superdraw which adds to the excitement,” he said.

“We will be celebrating in the store with a party atmosphere. Actually, we have already decorated our store with balloons streamers.

“We sold a division one winning syndicate share in a Superdraw in February this year so it’s wonderful to have another win as it makes it five division one wins in seven years.

“We would like to send our congratulations and best wishes to our winners.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and TattsLotto created 193 millionaires across Australia.
