A Brighton shopper has won more than second place in a beauty contest after scoring a $100,000 top prize on a $5 Monopoly Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at Gardenvale Authorised Newsagency, 168 Martin Street, Brighton.
Whether the winner plans to buy a hotel on Park Lane or build a property portfolio of train stations and utility companies will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to stay completely anonymous and count their real money in private.
Gardenvale Authorised Newsagency owner Louise Browne said she was thrilled her outlet had sold its first major prize.
“This is not only the first Instant Scratch-Its top prize we’ve sold but also our first major prize, so we are thrilled!” she exclaimed.
“It’s so exciting for our winner! Good on them!
“All of our customers are always asking us if we’ve heard of someone winning a top prize so I’m really excited to be able to answer them that now I have.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them the best with their prize!”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
