A Tahmoor dad has had a Father’s Day he will never forget, scoring one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for five years on a $5 Live the Life Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $5 Live the Life Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Tahmoor Newsagency, Shop 2, 119 Remembrance Drive, Tahmoor.
Sharing his joy with a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon, the happy winner recounted how he came to hold the winning ticket.
“It was a Father’s Day gift from my family,” he said.
“I was just sitting there scratching the ticket when I realised I had scratched all three ‘Live the Life’ symbols.
“I thought, ‘hang on a moment’.
“It was crazy! I was sitting there for about an hour, dumbfounded, thinking ‘is it real?’.
“I went down to the newsagency yesterday and they confirmed it then, and that’s when it started to sink in.
“I had a few cold beers to celebrate!
“I’ve had some great Father’s Days, but this is the best!
“I’m stoked. When the money is in my account, I’ll have another cold beer to celebrate.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the happy dad said it would pay off his mortgage.
“We will use it to pay off the mortgage,” he said.
“Once that is done, we will do something fun with it.”
Tahmoor Newsagency employee Cheryl Aul said the outlet was celebrating selling a top prize.
“That is just brilliant news,” she said.
“We are over the moon!
“How exciting for the winner. We wish him all the best with his prize.
“I am sure that will be a Father’s Day he will remember for the rest of his life.
“We have sold a few major prizes in the past, and we’re glad to add another to the list.”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, 4,182,602 winners pocketed more than $214.2 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
