Imagine waking up this morning to news you’re a multi-millionaire! That’s the reality for one Greystanes player who took home Powerball’s $12 million division one prize last night– but they haven’t realised yet.

The mystery Western Sydney player held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Powerball draw 1221, drawn Thursday 10 October 2019, scoring the division one jackpot prize of $12 million.

The $12 million winning entry was not registered to a Players Club card, which means NSW Lotteries officials have no way of contacting the winner to break the incredible news.

It’s the first time an Australian has won a $12 million Powerball prize.

The winning Powerball entry was purchased at Greystanes Centre Newsagency, Shop 19, Greystanes Shopping Mall, 665-699 Merrylands Road, Greystanes.

Greystanes Centre Newsagency employee Thu Than said she couldn’t wait for the winner to be united with their incredible prize.

“We’re so excited to have sold this winning entry and to know that one of customers is $12 million richer,” she exclaimed.

“We were thrilled when we saw we had sold the life-changing prize.

“All our customers are so excited and are busy checking their Powerball tickets.

“We certainly hope we’ll be checking the winning ticket soon.”

NSW Lotteries spokesperson Lauren Cooney said the winner may have woken up this morning and be going about their day as normal without any idea they’re a multi-millionaire.

“If you purchased an entry into last night’s Powerball draw from Greystanes Centre Newsagency there’s 12 million reasons why you should be checking your ticket today,” she said.

“You may think there’s no way you could be the winner we’re searching for but someone is walking around with a $12 million ticket in their pocket.

“Just imagine how your life could change after you discover you’re $12 million richer.

“We can’t wait to confirm this life-changing news with the winner, if you realise you are holding this division one winning ticket, contact NSW Lotteries on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, 10 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $398.5 million in prize money.

During this time, the biggest individual Powerball prize was $107,575,649.08, which was won by a Sydney healthcare worker on 17 January 2019. Her windfall set a new record for Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1221 on Thursday 10 October were 28, 11, 27, 16, 6, 3 and 35. The all-important Powerball number was 10.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1221 –one entry from New South Wales.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 281 so far this calendar year.
