A Belmore woman has revealed it was a spur-of-the-moment decision to grab a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket while out shopping that led her to a $10,000 top prize.
The winning $1 Boo Bucks ticket was purchased at Nextra Moorebank, 22 Stockton Ave, Moorebank.
Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott today, the merry woman recounted the moments leading up to her win.
“We’re still in shock! This little ticket is worth gold!” she shared.
“While I was out shopping, I decided to purchase five $1 Instant Scratch-Its tickets with my spare $5.
“The next thing I knew, I’d won $10,000! I looked three or four times to see if it was real, and the number of zeros had matched up. I went to the newsagency team member to double-check.
“I’d wondered if I’d read the ticket wrong! I was on edge the whole time.
“I also won $2 and $3 on the other Instant Scratch-Its tickets. It’s very rare that I win anything! I was having a lucky day.
“Thank you so much.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the overjoyed woman knew exactly what she would do.
“With Christmas around the corner, it would be nice to do some Christmas shopping! It’s going to give our family a real boost this holiday season,” she shared.
“We would like to put the rest of the prize towards paying off our mortgage. It will be a big help.”
Nextra Moorebank owner Velu Natarajan said the team was feeling excited about the windfall.
“We’re very happy to see a top prize win go to a regular customer!” he said.
“The winner was over the moon when she scratched her top prize. We thought to ourselves, ‘good on you!’.

In FY21, there were 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
