A Clarence Gardens man has admitted it took him more than a week to claim his $50,000 Keno prize because he needed time to let the news sink in.

The winner scored the $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 592, drawn 15 August 2021.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the South Australian winner relayed how the excitement unfolded.

“I was actually watching the draw, and I saw my numbers displayed one by one,” he explained.

“I couldn’t believe it! It was pure shock.

“My heart was racing like crazy!

“I tried to keep my reaction quite low-key, but I couldn’t be that quiet, I won $50,000!

“Everyone in the pub did eventually find out, and they were congratulating me on my win.

“I celebrated with a few drinks and shouted a few of my mates too.

“It took me so long to claim this prize because I actually needed time to let the news sink in. It just didn’t feel real!

“I love to play Keno, but just a few weeks ago, I decided to change it up and play a Spot 8 instead, and I am so glad I did.

“This is amazing, thank you.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the stoked bloke said he was determined to use it wisely.

“I don’t want to waste the money, so I need to really think about how I will use it,” he explained.

“There are a few things I need to do around the house. I’d love to get new carpet and maybe do some painting.

“I wouldn’t mind going on a little holiday as well! It won’t be overseas, but there’s some great places here in Australia that I can explore.”

The winning entry was purchased at Avoca Hotel, 893 South Road, Clarence Gardens.

Avoca Hotel venue manager Kym Zammit said the entire team congratulated their winner.

“It’s such a great win for him and for us as well,” he said.

“We are thrilled for our winner and wish him all the very best for the prize.

“Our patrons were all so excited by the news. It always creates such a buzz, and we can imagine all of our customers are hoping they’re the next one to win the big one.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, there were more than 5 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $133.2 million. This included 37 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners who scored more than $6.37 million.
