A Sawtell man has declared cleaning his car has never been so lucrative after he discovered an old Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot ticket left languishing in his vehicle for more than six months was worth $200,000.

The belated winner won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1092 on Friday 27 April 2018.

As the entry was not registered to a Players Club Card, NSW Lotteries officials had no way of contacting the ticketholder about their win. Instead, they had to wait until the winner discovered the news themselves.

“I’d just forgotten about it!” the man laughed when speaking with a NSW Lotteries official this morning.

“I had the ticket in the middle console of my car and I had stuff on top of that.

“I had to get my car serviced and so I cleaned out the car.

“I’m glad I checked the ticket and didn’t just throw it out.

“I can’t believe I’ve won that much. It’s the most I’ve ever won. I couldn’t even win a chook raffle. This is a major shock!”

The down-to-earth man shared his win had come at a great time as it would provide a much-needed boost to his superannuation nest egg.

“Hopefully it will allow me to move my retirement a little closer,” he said.

The Sawtell resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Sawtell Newsagency, 45 First Avenue, Sawtell.

Sawtell Newsagency team member Kathryn Duffy said the outlet was happy the winner had finally been united with his prize.

“We’ve been looking for the winner the past few months, asking everyone and getting them to double-check their tickets.

“We never gave up hope the winner would one day discover their win.

“I’m so glad he finally found it and can now get on with enjoying his prize.”
