A Coonabarabran dad has celebrated a Father’s Day he will never forget, scratching a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket he received as a gift.
The $10,000 winning $1 Mow Money ticket was purchased at Bingara Newsagency, 58-60 Maitland Street, Bingara.
Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the regional New South Wales player explained his daughter had gifted him the winning ticket.
“It was a Father’s Day present from my daughter,” he explained.
“Bloody oath, it will be a gift I will never forget!
“I almost threw the ticket away, I didn’t think there was anything on it at first.
“It wasn’t until I got my daughter to double-check it that I realised I’d won something.
“I am so glad I didn’t throw it out!”
With an extra $10,000 in his bank account, the winning man knew exactly how he’d enjoy his prize.
“Well, to begin with, I am going to buy myself a new car,” he said.
“And I will put the rest away in the bank. It will be a great boost!”
Bingara Newsagency owner Rodney King said the win was exciting news for his local customer.
“Congratulations to him!” he exclaimed.
“We’re very pleased to see this prize go to one of our regular customers.
“We’ve sold quite a few top prize winning tickets over the years but the last one was quite some time ago. We certainly hope this is the beginning of a winning streak.”
In FY21, there were 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 31.2 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $274.31 million. This equates to more than $750,000 won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
