A Cronulla mum is not likely to forget this year’s Mother’s Day, winning $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket she received as a gift.
The winning $4 Ladybird Bingo Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Cronulla Plaza Newsagency, 21 Cronulla Street, Cronulla.
This morning, an official from the Lott called the winner, who relayed the moment she made the exciting discovery.
“It was a Mother’s Day gift from my daughter,” she explained.
“I was just at the table, having a couple of tea while my daughter was making me cupcakes and I decided to scratch the ticket.
“I screamed out to her ‘I think I have won!’. We kept checking and double checking!
“It was a very surreal moment.
“It was lovely to share that experience with her!
“We sat around the house for hours like stunned mullets.
“There was a lot of giggling going on. It was very exciting.
“It will be quiet celebrations, lots of Face-Time calls.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the overjoyed mum said there was one particular thing she’d been wanting to buy for years.
“There’s so much I could do with the prize,” she said.
“I want to do some renovations on the house and I know it sounds funny, but I have always wanted a screen door on the front door, and so I am going to get one!”
Cronulla Plaza Newsagency owner Matt O'Donnell said he was thrilled to have helped make his winners Mother’s Day even more special.
“It is very exciting!” he said.
“What a fabulous Mother’s Day gift!
“I can only imagine how excited she would’ve been to receive that prize.
“We wish her all the best and hope she enjoys it.
“Hopefully we have some more major prize wins soon.”
