History has repeated itself for a retired couple from Newcastle who won $100,000 in today’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw, for the second time in their life.
The joyful couple took home the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10270, drawn Wednesday 6 February 2019.
When a NSW Lotteries official contacted the winners this afternoon to break the exciting news, they were caught completely off guard.
“Are you sure it’s us who have won?” the woman questioned.
“We’re a bit numb to be honest.
“Usually you’ve got to work so hard for your money, you don’t just get it given to you so we’re feeling a bit numb.
“We’re very happy, thank you very much.”
But it wasn’t the first time the Newcastle retirees had received a phone call like this.
“My husband has played Lucky Lotteries for years and years religiously, for as long as I can remember!” the wife explained.
“We had a big win a few years ago, $100,000 as well!
“It’s hard to believe that’s happening all over again.”
The generous couple revealed they’ll spend their most recent windfall the same way they spent the last.
“We will probably help out our grandchildren again,” she laughed.
“It won’t be too hard to spend it, I can tell you that much!”
The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry of one random number at Cooranbong Newsagency, Shop 7, 559 Freemans Drive, Cooranbong.
Cooranbong Newsagency owner Margaret Beletich said she was excited to have sold another major prize winning entry.
“It has been a little while since we’ve sold a major prize winning entry so it’s great to finally break that drought!” she exclaimed.
“We sold a division one winning entry in August 2014 and have probably sold about five over the many years we’ve been operating but the feeling of selling winning entries never gets old.
“It’s great for the community and we wish our winner all the very best.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $40.60 million for draw 1216 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $3.23 million for draw 10271.
