Surprise of a lifetime! Hobart man questions reality after $100,000 Lucky Lotteries winning phone call

A Hobart man has described his $100,000 win in one of yesterday’s Lucky Lotteries draw as a ‘surprise of a lifetime’, sharing he’d been dreaming of a winning phone call from lottery officials for years.

“Oh my god! Is this real?” he questioned when an official from The Lott called.

“This is the surprise of a lifetime.

“I’ve been dreaming of winning for a long time now.

“How good! I can’t believe you’ve called me.

“I’m stunned. It’s hard to think of what I’ll do with the prize just yet.

“It will enhance my life, that’s for sure!”

His winning entry of three random numbers was purchased online via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $5.08 million for draw 1699, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $13.50 million for draw 10944.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2024, more than 195.3 million winners took home more than $4.84 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including TattsLotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.8 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
