An Evanston man has been overwhelmed with a sense of déjà vu after winning $50,000 in Keno for the second time – using the same numbers he played the last time he won.

The South Australian scored the $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 211019 802, drawn Tuesday 19 October 2021.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the Gawler man relayed the moment he made the exciting discovery.

“I was actually there watching the draw when the win happened,” he explained.

“It was a bit of a shock to be honest! But a great one!

“I usually use the same set of numbers, but this time I changed it up to the numbers I used to play. That feels like a pretty good decision now!

“When I was watching the draw, I actually had a weird feeling that I was going to win. As each number came out, I just kept thinking, ‘This is it!’.

“I wasn’t very discrete about it. I went right up to one of the girls working and gave her a hug and told her I won. She almost fell over! She was so surprised.

“I am still so happy about it. It hasn’t really sunk in though.

“I actually have won this prize before, but it was about two decades ago. It feels a bit like déjà vu!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the overjoyed man revealed it would make a positive difference to his life.

“There’s some renovations around the house I would like to do,” he explained.

“I love to play golf as well, so I might go on a golf trip or get some new golf gear.

“It’ll certainly come in handy.

“I will definitely take the family out for a nice celebratory dinner. And I have already celebrated with the owner, Barry. We went out for coffee, so it’s been great.”

The winning entry was purchased at Gawler Green Newsagency, Shop 9, Gawler Green Shopping Centre, 491 Main North Road, Evanston.

Gawler Green Newsagency supervisor Rebekah Renner said she was over-the-moon for the local winner.

“It was amazing! I actually sold him the winning ticket,” she shared.

“He was about to walk out of the door when the win happened. I didn’t even know he won at first, but then he ran up to me and gave me a hug and told me the exciting news.

“I was so excited for him! He looked very happy too. I think he was a bit emotional.

“My boss came in and took him out for a coffee to celebrate. We are all so happy for him.

“He is an incredibly deserving winner, and he is a local and a regular. How couldn’t we be happy for him!?

“We’ve sold quite a few big winning entries in the past and we can’t wait to have some more.”
