An Evanston Park man is looking forward to cooling off in his own backyard this summer after scoring a division one prize worth over $1 million in Saturday’s X Lotto draw.
The northern Adelaide local held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4009, drawn Saturday 21 December 2019. Each entry scored a division one prize of $1,075,621.64.
As well as winning the coveted division one prize, the happy winner’s System 9 QuickPick entry also scored division three 12 times and division four 15 times, bolstering his total prize to $1,089,093.74.
Sharing his joy with a SA Lotteries official this morning, the thrilled man confessed he had several sleepless nights over the weekend.
“I checked my ticket at about 12:30am Sunday morning,” he explained.
“I scanned my ticket on the Lott app and saw that I had all six numbers.
“I had to scan it about another 20 times to make sure, because I didn’t believe my eyes!
“I’ve been playing Lotto three times a week for years and have never won anything like this!
“I haven’t slept a wink since I checked my ticket!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his X Lotto windfall, the tired but happy winner confessed he’d already been dreaming of a cool summer.
“I was measuring up my backyard for a pool at about 4:30am Sunday morning after I discovered the win,” he laughed.
“I reckon it will fit but I’ll definitely get the experts in to have a look.
“It’s been pretty hot here this summer so I’m looking forward to being able to cool off at home.”
The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning System 8 QuickPick entry at Criterion Tavern, 18 Nineteenth Street, Gawler.
Criterion Tavern owner John Kinnear said it was awesome to know a winning ticket was sold at his venue.
“It just goes to show you can buy a winning ticket from any outlet!” he exclaimed.
“We’ll be celebrating in our venue by putting up posters and balloons and telling all of our customers we’ve had a win.
“They will be delighted to know a winning ticket of over one million dollars was purchased at our tavern.
“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve ever sold so we are thrilled.
“Congratulations to our winner. The entire Criterion Crew are extremely excited and happy for them!
“We hope their life has changed for the better from this day onwards.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Monday & Wednesday X Lotto and Saturday X Lotto created 193 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4009 on Saturday 21 December 2019 were 18, 28, 23, 30, 37 and 35, while the supplementary numbers were 33 and 4.
Across Australia, there were four division one entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4009 – two from Western Australia and one each from New South Wales and South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 363 so far this calendar year, including 41 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 244 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $286.6 million.
