A Glenelg woman is excited to plan a ‘relaxing, but also exciting holiday’ overseas with her family after discovering she won a $50,000 Keno prize.

The Adelaide resident held a Keno Spot 8 winning entry in draw 2581309 on Thursday 16 January 2020 and takes home $50,000.

Speaking with an SA Lotteries official this morning, the happy woman relayed the moment she discovered her $50,000 win.

“I was actually just going to the newsagency to pick up a few things and then I remembered I had a Keno ticket in my wallet, so I checked it,” she explained.

“The lady said I had won a larger prize but she couldn’t tell me how much, so I ran to the car and got my phone to check it.

“As you can imagine I was pretty shocked! I probably sat in the car and checked my ticket about 100 times.

“It didn’t feel real! I just couldn’t believe I had won that much.

“After that I went straight home and had a glass of wine to celebrate.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the surprised South Australian said she was excited to go overseas.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet, so I am not 100% sure what I will do with it,” she shared.

“I want to go on a holiday overseas. It’ll be a relaxing but also exciting holiday with my family. I am just not sure where yet.

“We will have to start looking at travel websites.”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno Spot 8 entry at Kylie Brown’s Newsagency, Shop 17, Bayside Village Shopping Centre, Cnr Jetty & Brighton Roads, Glenelg.

Kylie Brown’s Newsagency owner Kylie Brown said she was thrilled to have made another one of her customers a happy Keno winner.

“Isn’t that great?” she said.

“It’s just such fabulous news.

“We have had quite a few major Keno wins lately, and each one is just as exciting as the last.

“We feel as though we are on a bit of a roll, so I hope we make some more of our customers major prize winners.

“We’d like to send our congratulations to our winner! We wish her all the best and hope she enjoys her prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 27 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $5.98 million.  The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.7 million was won in Mansfield Park in October 2018, and a prize of more than $2.1 million was won in Findon in June 2019.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
