A Seaton shopper has picked up more than just a chicken schnitzel after landing a $50,000 Keno jackpot prize while out for a meal at Links Hotel.

The South Australian winner scored a Spot 8 prize of $50,000 in Keno draw 2562580, drawn on Saturday 23 November 2019.

However, how the winner plans to use their Keno windfall and enjoy their $50,000 bounty will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said while we might never know how the Seaton shopper planned to use their Keno win, she was sure it had delivered a great kick-start to their week.

“What a perfect way to enter a new week with an extra $50,000 in your bank account!” she said.

“From overseas holidays, to splurging on a new car or a boat, many of our Keno winners tell us their prize will be used on long-held dreams, such as an overseas holiday they’ve always dreamed of.

“The ways Keno winners spend their prizes really are as vast and diverse as the players themselves!”

The winning Keno Spot 8 entry was purchased at Links Hotel, 346 Tapleys Hill Road, Seaton.

Links Hotel spokesperson Carly Naera said she wished their Keno winner all the very best with their prize.

“We love seeing our patrons score a Keno prize. They’ve always got some fun things planned for their windfalls. I’m sure this winner is no different,” she said.

“It’s great to see another win in our venue and we can’t wait to do it again!”

One month on: McLaren Vale Keno winner still at large

SA Lotteries officials are still searching for a McLaren Vale resident or visitor who scored a Keno Spot 8 prize worth $50,000 on 1 November 2019 but is yet to come forward to claim their prize.

The mystery winner won the $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 2554811, drawn Friday 1 November 2019 at Mansfield Newsagency, Shop 22/130 Main Road, McLaren Vale.

The winning entry is unregistered, which means SA Lotteries officials have no way to contact the winner and confirm the life-changing news.

Ms Spencer encouraged players to check any old Keno tickets they may find.

“From the car glovebox, to fridge door to inside a grocery bag – players have told us they have found their tickets in all sorts of nooks and crannies,” she said.

“If you have any old Keno tickets laying around that you haven’t checked yet make sure you do because you could be the mystery winner we are searching for.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 27 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $5.98 million.

The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.7 million was won in Mansfield Park in October 2018, and a prize of more than $2.1 million was won in Findon in June 2019.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
