A Caroline Springs man said he was knees deep in a fish pond this morning when he discovered he scored a division one win worth more than $659,000 the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The happy winner held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 3999, drawn Saturday 16 November 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $659,502.54.

As well as winning the coveted division one prize, the stoked bloke also scored division six bolstering his total prize to $659,515.09.

When a Tatts official confirmed the win with the Melbourne local this morning, he admitted he was in the middle of cleaning out his fish pond when he discovered the win.

“I was standing knees deep in water when I felt my phone ringing in my pocket,” he explained.

“I couldn’t reach it at the time but once I could grab it, I checked my phone and saw I had missed calls and an email from Tatts.

"Then I read the email and saw that I had won I couldn’t believe it! I had to get out of the fish pond and sit on the grass.

“I called my Mum and then my best mate to tell them the news and they were both so happy for me. They kept telling me I needed to confirm the win to make sure it was real.

“So I got out of the fish pond and gave you a call!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy the windfall, the hard-working tradesman revealed it would help him realise his dream of becoming his own boss.

“The first thing I’ll do is pay the house off!” he declared.

“I’ve been working like a dog for years and I’m tired and sore.

“I’ve been thinking it has been time for a new career path so I can do something that isn’t so hard on my body and work for myself.

“My plan was to work my arse off for the next year to save enough money to start my own business because when you have a mortgage it’s always hanging over you.

“Now I’ll be debt free on the house and able to set myself up for the future.

“I think a holiday is a good idea too. I’ll be taking some time off at Christmas to help me plan what I’ll do next year!”

The happy winner also confessed some celebrations were on the cards.

“Now that the win is confirmed I will definitely do something to properly celebrate the win,” he declared.

“But first I’ve got to finish cleaning the fish pond!”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 18-game marked entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
