A trip to the grocery store has led a Helensvale mum to a life-changing $1.3 million Lotto win, admitting she’d purchased her first lottery ticket because her groceries added up to an even $20.
The Gold Coast woman held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4193, drawn Saturday 25 September 2021. Each division one winning entry took home $1,303,213.75.
Sharing her joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the woman was still in disbelief after making the discovery.
“Thank you very much,” she laughed.
“I don’t know what to say. I’m still in shock.
“I’d heard that someone who purchased a ticket in Nerang had won division one, so that’s when I went and checked my ticket!
“I literally never buy lottery tickets. I only bought one because I was at the grocery store and my groceries added up to exactly $20.
“The woman at the checkout told me that never happens and to buy myself a lottery ticket, so I did!
“And that was the winning one. It is unbelievable.
“It couldn’t have happened at a better time!”
The Helensvale mum didn’t need any prompting to reveal exactly what she planned to do with her lottery fortune.
“This will change my life dramatically, in the best way imaginable,” she explained.
“It means the financial security that I have always dreamt of.
“I am definitely going to buy a house. It will be unreal to not have to worry about a mortgage.
“I cannot believe it.”
It’s the 13th division one win to land on the Gold Coast so far this year. These wins have scored more than $49 million in division one prize money.
Her life-changing entry was purchased at newsXpress Nerang Newsagency, Shop 15, Nerang Fair Shopping Centre, 74 Nerang-Beaudesert Road, Nerang.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4193 on 25 September 2021 were 33, 29, 36, 40, 6 and 28, while the supplementary numbers were 43 and 26.
