A Salisbury East man is happily shopping for a new car after winning a Keno Spot 8 prize of $50,000 – a win which he admitted left him shocked as if he’d seen a ghost.

Speaking to an SA Lotteries official this morning to claim his prize, the man explained how he came to hold his winning Keno Spot 8 entry in draw 2389544 on Saturday 14 July 2018.

“Oh man!  You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for a phone call like this,” he declared.

“It’s very surreal.

“I put some games on Saturday morning and then I went shopping and walked up and checked it. He said ‘oh no I can’t pay that’. It was fifty grand!

“I was standing in the middle of the shopping mall looking like I’d seen a ghost.

“It’s just fantastic.”

The ecstatic Keno player said he knew exactly how he would use some of his windfall.

“One new car coming up! My car is just about to give up the ghost so it’s perfect timing,” he laughed.

“I’m still a bit bewildered by it all. This is the most excellent phone call I’ve ever had.”

The regular Keno player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Spot 8 entry was purchased at Manor Farm Newsagency, Shop 16, Manor Farm Shopping Centre, Northbri Avenue, Salisbury East.

Manor Farm Newsagency owner Lee-Ann Mandica said she was thrilled to have sold a winning Keno Spot 8 entry.

“It’s just beautiful,” she said.

“The winner’s already rung us to tell us the great news. We’re so excited to sell a big Keno win and see it go to one of our regulars.”

Last financial year, there were 19 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $4.52 million.  Spot 10 was won twice during this time – a prize of more than $2.017 million in December 2017 and a prize of more than $1.474 million in April 2018.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
