A Thirlmere man has confessed he felt dizzy and like he was losing his marbles after discovering he’d snagged $200,000 in today’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The Macarthur region resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1711, drawn Friday 8 August 2025. He looks forward to a neat $200,000.

When an official from The Lott broke the thrilling news, the winning man wasted no time sharing the news with his wife, trying to tell her they’d just scored a major lottery prize while she was in the middle of a work meeting.

“Wow. I’m lost for words,” he said when an official from The Lott revealed his prize.

“I’m losing my marbles here. Give me a moment to gather myself.

“My wife is currently in a meeting, but I’m trying to signal to her that we’ve just won $200,000.

“I can’t believe it. I feel a bit dizzy.

“The prize will go a long way for us. Thank you!”

His winning entry of one random number was purchased at Thirlmere Newsagency, 11 Oaks Street, Thirlmere.

Thirlmere Newsagency owner Angela Di Domizio shared she couldn’t help but jump up and down full of excitement when she discovered her outlet had sold its first-ever major prize-winning ticket.

“It was just amazing! We were all jumping up and down when we heard the news,” she said.

“It was a combination of shock and excitement for us.

“I’ve owned the outlet for over 23 years now, and this marks our first-ever major prize-winning ticket. We’ve sold a few division two winning tickets, but nothing this big before!

“It means a lot to us after owning the outlet for so long. I’m thinking we might celebrate with some champagne later.

“We want to send our winner a big congratulations on behalf of the entire team!”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $11.2 million for draw 1712, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.28 million for draw 11034.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
