A Facebook post about a local $1.2 million Saturday Gold Lotto win sparked a moment of pure excitement for a Yeppoon mum, prompting her to check her ticket and discover her windfall.
The Central Queenslander held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4553, drawn Saturday 8 March 2025, and looks forward to $1,262,948.41.
“I’m still so excited,” she relayed when speaking to an official from The Lott this morning.
“It’s such a nice feeling – hard to describe!
“I was flicking through Facebook on Sunday morning when I came across a post that Yeppoon Central Lotto and News had sold a division one winning entry.
“I thought, ‘Hang on! I purchased my ticket there!’. I rushed to check my ticket, and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“I started to frantically search for my husband in the house. I said to him, ‘Look at this! Look at this!’. He immediately responded with, ‘It’s a scam!’.
“I rang my daughter straight away and asked her to check the ticket on her phone, and she reassured me it was real. We couldn’t believe it.
“Wow. It’s crazy.”
With a million-dollar deposit on the horizon, the regular player revealed the life-changing prize would go towards her family, a new set of wheels, and possibly a well-deserved holiday.
“We’re really having a think about it, but we might help the kids out a bit,” she shared.
“We also want a new car!
“We’re going to have a think about what else we’ll do but a holiday might be on the cards.”
Her winning 12-game QuickPick was purchased at Yeppoon Central Lotto and News, Shop 28, Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre, Yeppoon.
Yeppoon Central Lotto and News owner Lisa White said she couldn’t believe her outlet had sold its fourth major lottery prize in 12 months.
“Wow! We’ve done it again! This is our fourth major lottery entry in the last year. We will definitely be celebrating by taking our staff out to dinner,” she said.
“Our customers will be thrilled to hear that we’ve sold another division one winning entry. The last time we sold a division one winning entry was in September 2024.
“We’re so happy for our division one winner and thank them for supporting Yeppoon Central Lotto and News. There’s no doubt we’re a lucky store!”
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4553 on 8 March 2025 were 28, 18, 38, 2, 16 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 25 and 4.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4553 – three each in Victoria and one in Queensland.
