A hardworking man from Chipping Norton has admitted he can’t wipe the smile off his face since he discovered he won $200,000 in a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw almost two weeks ago.
The Sydney man won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1130, drawn on Wednesday 19 September 2018.
The winning entry was not registered to a Players Club Card so NSW Lotteries officials had no way of contacting the winner with the life-changing news and had to wait for him to come forward to claim his prize.
Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning to claim his prize, the ecstatic winner explained he initially thought he’d only won just over $1,000 – not $200,000.
“It’s a top win!” he laughed.
“I scanned my ticket at a store and he said to me he didn’t know how much it was but that it was over $1,000.
“At NSW Lotteries, the lady scanned it and said ‘Do you know you’ve won $200,000?’. I said ‘oh sh**!’. I had no idea. It’s amazing.
“This ticket has been sitting in the car for a while. I don’t check every week, maybe once a month.
“I just can’t believe it to tell you the truth!”
The happy winner explained he only bought his winning ticket at Bonnyrigg after he begrudgingly accompanied his wife on a recent shopping trip.
“I took her to the shops and on the way I went past the newsagency and I went in and bought this ticket,” he said.
“Just goes to show you’ve got to be in it to win it!
“This puts a bit of icing on the cake. I’ll keep it in the bank for now and maybe use some of it for a trip overseas at some stage.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Bonnyrigg Plaza Newsagency, Shop 22, Bonnyrigg Plaza Shopping Centre, 100 Bonnyrigg Avenue, Bonnyrigg.
Bonnyrigg Plaza Newsagency owner Gia Lam said he was ecstatic to have sold a 1st Prize winning entry – the outlet’s biggest prize so far this year.
“What fantastic news!” he exclaimed.
“We’re so happy for our customer and that they’ve finally claimed their prize.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $22.36 million for draw 1140 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $630,000 for draw 10251.
