Itâs not just the socks and jocks a Maitland dad is looking forward to this Fatherâs Day â itâs also the day heâll be paid the $1 million Saturday Lotto prize he scored in the weekendâs draw.
The Hunter region resident held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4601 on Saturday 23 August 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $1,055,540.64.
âIâve been looking forward to this call for quite some time!â he exclaimed when speaking to an official from The Lott.
âI usually buy a ticket, but I donât really check it. I figure if Iâm lucky and I happen to win one day, youâll ring.
âI often get the smallest entry possible. I just think, if itâs going to happen, itâs going to happen. If you get lucky, you get lucky.
âI used to have favourite numbers, but just let them go and go with a QuickPick.
âI saw I had a missed call earlier. While I first thought it was a scam, I did think, âhang on a second, it could be realâ.
âSo, I jumped on my phone and immediately told my wife, and she couldnât believe it. She thought I was tricking her.
âWe were just sitting around the table talking about it. Itâs going to secure the house and clear the mortgage. Thatâs why I buy a Lotto ticket â thatâs always been the one thing Iâd like to do.â
As he is due to be paid his prize on Sunday 7 September 2025, after the two-week provisional period for division one prizes, the winner declared this Fatherâs Day would be a day heâd never forget.
âIt still seems like it hasnât happened,â he laughed.
âOnce I see the prize in my account on Fatherâs Day, then it will be real.â
The manâs winning 4-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app â the official home of Australiaâs lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4601 on 23 August 2025 were 44, 28, 10, 45, 2 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 8 and 26.
Across Australia, there were six division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4601 â two each in New South Wales and Western Australia, and one each in Queensland and South Australia.
