Man from The Oaks said it’s about to be the most wonderful time of the year after he won one of the top prizes of $25,000 on a $2 Seas ‘n’ Greetings Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at Oaks Tobacconist & Newsagency, 47 John Street, The Oaks.
Speaking with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the winning man relived the moment he discovered his windfall.
“I go to the paper shop most days and I pick up a paper and if I have any change then I will buy a few scratchies,” he explained.
“So I did that, and then I went home and had a cup of coffee and scratched my ticket.
“I looked at it and I thought ‘I think I’ve won!’. I checked it, and I checked it again and again, but I didn’t believe it.
“I went to the newsagency and got them to check it and that’s when I realised I won $25,000!
“It was so exciting and a bit of a relief, especially around Christmas time.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the stoked bloke said he’d need some time to think, but he would be spoiling his family.
“I don’t really know what I will do with it,” he shared.
“I will share it with my family and then my wife can decide what to do with the rest of it.
“I will certainly celebrate with some beer!”
Oaks Tobacconist & Newsagency owners Pierre and Maria Moussa said they were thrilled to have sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“We are over completely over the moon,” Pierre said.
“I can’t believe it. We’ve owned the store for just under a year, so we are so happy we’ve now sold a top prize.
“We’ve sold a second division winning ticket before, but this is the biggest prize.
“We’ve been telling all of our customers about selling the ticket and it’s created such a buzz.”
“We are so happy for our winner,” Maria added.
“He is such a loyal and lovely guy and he really, really deserves this win.
“It’s so wonderful with Christmas coming up. What a great gift for himself!”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.6 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $214.2 million.
