A Marleston man is ready to make his wife’s white Christmas dreams come true, with plans to surprise her with a trip to the snow, after today discovering he won $50,000 in Keno.

The South Australian scored the $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 211211 872, drawn 11 December 2021.

When an official from The Lott called the Adelaide man, he was running errands and completely oblivious to his life enhancing win.

“Are you bloody serious? This has got to be a joke,” he laughed hysterically.

“I had no idea. This is fantastic! This is the best call I’ve ever received in my life.

“Oh my god. Oh my god! This is insane!

“I want to scream so loud. I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am right now.

“What a fantastic Christmas we will have now. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to us!”

The South Australian admitted the prize would be dedicated to “having fun”.

“My wife has been dreaming of a white Christmas,” he explained.

“She loves the snow. She’s been talking about how much she wants to go on a snow holiday next year so she can make snow angels, have snowball fights, and go skiing.

“I would love to be able to book some flights for the beginning of 2022 so we can have a second Christmas – but a white Christmas. It will be a surprise!

“Honestly, we’re just going to use this prize to have a bloody good time. It’s just going to be used for fun!

“Can you wait a second? I want to call my wife so you can break the news to her too. We can have a three-way call! She needs to hear this directly from you otherwise, she won’t believe me.”

The winner then dialled his wife, who erupted into cheers when she heard the news.

“Are you kidding me? This is amazing,” the winning woman laughed.

“We need to celebrate all night tonight. What a way to end 2021!”

The winning entry was purchased at OTR West Terrace, 41-49 West Terrace, Adelaide.

OTR West Terrace’s Khalil Shahin said the team was so excited to see one of their customers win.

“We’ve been celebrating at the outlet and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” Khalil said.

“Lots of people have been thrilled to hear that one of our customers has won. Everyone’s hoping it’s them next!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish him all the very best with his prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, there were more than 5 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $133.2 million. This included 37 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners who scored more than $6.37 million.

The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2021, while a win with more than $2.4 million was won by Taperoo man in November 2020.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
