A Monterey retiree says he’ll be sharing his good fortune with his entire family after winning one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for five years on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning $5 Live the Life ticket was sold at Matraville Newsagency, 494 Bunnerong Road, Matraville.
Confirming his win with an official from The Lott this morning, the regular player said he’d been anticipating a big win for quite some time.
“After all these years of buying scratchies, I have finally won a top prize!” he exclaimed.
“I was so happy when I realised. I knew one day it would happen.
“I’m so glad that day has finally arrived!”
When asked he planned to do with his exciting windfall, the man instantly thought of his family.
“I have so many people in my family who I can share my prize with, my children and grandchildren,” he explained.
“I can’t wait to share my happiness with them.
“And I will head on a holiday overseas as soon as we can travel again!”
Matraville Newsagency owner Kelly Luong said it was the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket the outlet had sold.
“This is great news for our customer and great news for our store,” she said.
“We’re very happy that we’ve finally sold a top prize.
“Congratulations to our winner! We hope this is the beginning of plenty more wins for our customers.”
In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
