A Mount Barker man has found the perfect way to end a quarrel with his partner about a controversial new car and it’s all thanks to his $50,000 Keno win.
The stoked bloke scored the $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 211017729, drawn Sunday 17 October 2021.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the Adelaide Hills man said the win had initially sparked some controversy.
“It’s a very funny story. I can’t believe it,” he laughed.
“Prior to winning, I had an argument with my partner about purchasing a brand-new $50,000 Toyota GR Yaris.
“We’re about to purchase another house, so she wasn’t over the moon to hear that I was wanting to buy a brand new car.
“Despite the argument, I purchased the new car, and I took my son out to lunch the next day.
“While we were out to lunch, I decided to get a Keno ticket. I rarely ever play Keno or go to any pubs.
“The next thing I know, I’d won $50,000! It was a hysterical coincidence as the car was of the same value.
“My partner and I were in shock. We’re over the moon!
“We’d like to put it towards the new home that we’re intending to purchase.”
The winning entry was purchased at Hotel Barker, 32 Gawler Street, Mount Barker.
Hotel Barker General Manger John Dina said the whole team was elated to hear about the win.
“Isn’t that exciting!” he said.
“We really love seeing a significant win, even better when it goes to a local customer!
“Our venue is very community based, so it’s very nice to see.
“A big congratulations to our winner. We’re so happy with them.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, there were more than 5 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $133.2 million. This included 37 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners who scored more than $6.37 million.
