A Penrith mum, who had been marking her entries with the same numbers for six years, has thanked a last-minute change for her Saturday Lotto windfall of more than $2.5 million.
The Sydney resident held one of the two division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4079 on Saturday 24 August 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $2,558,804.44.
Confirming the overwhelming news with an official from the Lott this morning, the regular lottery player explained how her life-changing win came to be.
“Thank you so much!” she exclaimed.
“This is wonderful. It’s a huge relief!
“I usually check my tickets on Saturday night but I didn’t this weekend. I woke up at 5am on Sunday morning and checked it then!
“It was unbelievable. So much was going through my head.
“This will change our lives so much.
“I play Saturday Lotto every week and I’ve been playing the same numbers for six years.
“But you wouldn’t believe it, it was a week ago when I decided to change the numbers I’ve been playing for all these years and that’s what won me division one!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her multi-million-dollar prize, the Sydney player said she had one particular dream she couldn’t wait to make a reality.
“The first thing that came to mind was no more renting,” she said.
“It will mean everything to me and my family to own our very own home.
“We’re going to buy a big house with a granny flat so all our family can come and stay.
“We’d also love a new car and we’ll be helping out our children.”
The happy woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning marked 9-game entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
Last financial year, Saturday Lotto created 127 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4079 on Saturday 22 August 2020 were 43, 2, 16, 9, 7 and 33 while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 34.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4079 – one from New South Wales and one online.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 255 so far this calendar year, including 63 won by New South Wales Lotteries customers.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 318 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $346.12 million.
