Persistence has paid off for a pair of Hadfield best friends who scored $797,000 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw after playing the same set of special numbers for more than a decade.
The Victorians held one of the eight division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4181, drawn Saturday 14 August 2021. Each division one winning entry took home a $797,532.27 prize.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the winning duo explained how their win came to be.
“I found out yesterday. I always check our tickets first thing on a Sunday morning,” the private syndicate leader explained.
“We’ve been playing for more than 10 years – it’s a private syndicate with my best friend.
“I was so shocked when I saw we’d won division one! I called my mate so many times until he finally answered and I could break the news.
“The first thing I said to him is, ‘We’ve done it! We’ve won the lottery’.
“We couldn’t stop cheering and laughing! It was amazing. We are rapt!
“We haven’t celebrated yet because of lockdown, but we want to get all our friends and family together and shout them to a fun night.
“I am so glad I am sharing it with my best mate. We are those kind of friends that are mates for life, so it’s incredible to share the win with him.
“I’m tearing up now. You’ve got me all emotional.
“This changes everything for us.
“You beauty! This is mad! It’s crazy! It’s life-changing.”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their windfall, the stoked bloke said they’d spent yesterday coming up with some ideas.
“I am going to use mine to pay off my mortgage and then to enjoy during my retirement,” he explained.
“We have both been in and out of work, so it makes things so much easier for us.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The winning marked System 8 entry was purchased at Hadfield Newsagency, 120 West Street Hadfield.
Hadfield Newsagency team member Vikki Fcodella said they’d been patiently waiting for their next division one win.
“We are over the moon! It’s just so lovely to hear,” she said happily.
“It’s been years since we last sold a division one win, so you can imagine our excitement! It’s practically like we’ve won ourselves.
“Hopefully this is the start of many more division one wins to come! It’s just so exciting to be able to help change someone’s life in the best way possible and we can’t wait to do it again.
