Powerball has soared to a massive $80 million for next Thursday’s draw (draw 1317 on 12 August 2021) - the equal biggest Australian lottery jackpot offered so far this year.

The mammoth jackpot comes after no players held the winning numbers and all-important Powerball number needed to score division one in tonight’s draw, sending the jackpot higher for next week.

While no entries scored the desirable division one Powerball prize tonight, there were a total of 1,852,570 wins worth more than $32.9 million won in divisions two to nine.

Among those winners were seven division two winners who each take home a prize worth $130,228.20.

The winning numbers in tonight’s Powerball draw 1316 on Thursday 5 August 2021 were 16, 25, 12, 7, 11, 10 and 21. The all-important Powerball number was 18.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the $80 million jackpot was the fourth biggest prize the game had ever offered.

“The last time Powerball soared to these heights was in April when two winners each took home $40 million,” he said.

“If one player takes home the entire $80 million prize next week, they will not only be the biggest Australian lottery winner so far this year, but they will also hold the title of the third biggest lottery winner in Australian history.

“We are expecting up to one-in-four Australian adults to have an entry into next week’s $80 million Powerball draw.

“Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app. As always, we urge players to abide by any COVID-related guidelines in their area.

“Our advice to players wanting a chance to win that prize is to register your tickets to a player card or online account. If you win division one and you’re a registered player, we will be able to reach you straight after the draw to let you know that life-changing news.”

The $80 million Powerball draw 1317 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday 12 August 2021.
