A man from Mt Annan is looking forward to relaxing in his retirement after discovering he is now $100,000 richer from winning the 1st Prize in Thursday’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.
The South West Sydney resident won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10254, drawn Thursday 1 November 2018.
When speaking with a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon while claiming his prize, the winner recounted the moment his Friday afternoon ritual led to his $100,000 discovery.
“Every Friday I buy my tickets and I scan my tickets from the last week,” he explained.
“I went into the newsagent, scanned it in the machine and it came up ‘go to counter’.
“I gave it to the guy behind the counter and he said ‘I can’t pay it here’.
“He printed out the results from that draw and when we saw the numbers away we went!
“I’ve been playing regularly every week since I was a young man – it’s taken me 40 years to get it! I got there eventually!
“I’ll keep playing. I put my normal tickets on for next week. I just do the same ones every week. Have a bit of fun and if I win - I win, and if I don’t – I don’t!”
The thrilled winner confessed he had had a feeling he might win big as he drove to work this morning.
“I’ve got to be honest, I’ve never thought like this, but as I was driving to work I had a thought I might win,” he admitted.
“I drove past the newsagent and I thought to myself ‘I wonder if when I check my ticket today if I’ll have a win’.
“I’ve had a few smaller wins every now and again, something like $60 is a big win for me, but I thought to myself ‘wouldn’t it be nice to scan it one day and get a big one!’.
“It’s the first time I’ve thought like that and then I did scan it and win!”
When asked how he planned to spend his Lucky Lotteries windfall, the thrilled winner revealed he already had an idea of what he would do with it.
“I’ve always got a plan!” he exclaimed.
“I’ll put it towards my super. It will make a major difference for when I retire.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Mt Annan Newsagency, Shop 13 Mt Annan Marketplace, 11-13 Main Street, Mount Annan.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $25.24 million for draw 1152 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $1.15 million for draw 10255.
