A Renmark shopper enjoyed more than just some fun wordplay after their $10 Jumbo Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket spelled out a $150,000 top prize.
The winning $10 Jumbo Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Renmark Plaza Newsagency, Shop 12, Renmark Plaza, Renmark.
However, how the winner plans to spend their $150,000 instant windfall will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
Renmark Plaza Newsagency owner Jane Evans said she was super excited to have sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“I’m over-the-moon!” she exclaimed.
“We have put up winning banners and balloons in store to celebrate the win.
“I think all of our customers will be very excited to hear we’ve sold a top prize winning ticket. Being a small country town it will give hope to others.
“The last time we sold a major prize winning entry was three years ago when we sold a Monday X Lotto division one prize.
“We are so proud and we hope the winning streak will continue.
“Congratulations to our winner!”
SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said the winner’s jumbo prize came as a shock after they checked their ticket.
“While we don’t know how the winner plans to enjoy their mammoth windfall, what we do know is that the prize is larger than they expected,” she explained.
“After the winner enjoyed scratching their Crosswords ticket, they counted up the number of words and thought they had only scratched twelve.
“It wasn’t until they claimed their prize at our office that they realised they actually had thirteen words and the top prize of $150,000!
“It’s a great reminder to all of our players to make sure you double check your tickets as there could be something you’ve missed!”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
