As Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot reaches an unprecedented jackpot of $40 million for the first time in the games 88-year history, the Lott can exclusively reveal the entry types that most commonly take home the major prize.
Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot is a raffle-style game where each ticket number is unique and once all of the 200,000 tickets into the draw are sold, the draw takes place. As the jackpot continues to climb higher and higher the Lott is conducting near-daily draws in the hopes of crowning Australia’s next multi-millionaire.
The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said Australian lottery players keen for their chance to snare the jackpot prize may want to consider the type of entry they purchase.
“While we haven’t crowned a Mega Jackpot winner in the past 164 draws, we have crowned 164 1st Prize winners who have taken home a guaranteed prize of $200,000,” Ms Spencer explained.
“We’ve crunched the numbers from 2018 and can reveal that the entry type that takes home the most 1st Prizes is a ‘Random’ entry type, where the numbers are randomly generated by the lottery terminal.
“Just under 60% of our 1st Prize winners are enjoying their $200,000 windfall after choosing this entry type.
“This style of entry is different to the ‘Consecutive’ entry type whereby the numbers generated for you by the lottery terminal are in consecutive order.
“Many winners tell us they prefer to spread their ticket numbers far and wide across the ticket number spectrum using ‘Random’ numbers while others say they prefer ‘Consecutive’ numbers in case their number was just one off the winning ticket number.
“Whichever entry type you choose, it’s important that you get in early and grab an entry into the next draw because as soon as the tickets are sold out – the draw could take place and you could miss your chance to become a multi-millionaire.”
Ms Spencer also revealed that Australian lottery players didn’t need a large entry for their chance to win, with many happy winners taking home 1st prize with just one number. (see Table 1 below)
“What the data shows is that for both ‘Random’ and ‘Consecutive’ entry types, the majority of our winners took home the 1st prize with small number entries,” she explained.
“For the ‘Random’ entry type, we saw that 50 of our winners simply had one number, followed closely by 21 winners who had two random numbers.
“Looking at the ‘Consecutive’ entry types we found that 26 of our winners had just two numbers followed by 15 who had five.”
