A pair of Villawood “battlers” were happily shocked to today discover they won one of the top prizes of $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $4 Peppermint Bingo Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Villawood Newsagency, Shop 33, Villawood Shopping Centre, 33 Villawood Place, Villawood.
Speaking with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the winning man relived the moment he discovered the win.
“When I scratched the ticket I was shocked! I wasn’t sure if I was seeing things,” he said.
“I told my family but they didn’t believe me.
“I showed them the ticket so they could double check it and they screamed ‘oh my god, you’re right! You have won!’.
“It was a great moment. I was very happy.
“We are very grateful for the win. We’ve always been battlers, so this is amazing for us.”
When asked how the couple planned to enjoy their instant windfall, the stoked bloke shared his ideas.
“I have never owned a new car, so I am going to buy myself one,” he declared.
“My wife will probably go on a shopping spree. I won’t go with her though, because I hate shopping and she always takes so long to find something. I am sure she will enjoy that though.
“We will also share some with our family too.”
Villawood Newsagency business partner Simon Kaj Oso said the outlet was celebrating selling a winning ticket to one of their regular customers.
“It is great to have sold a winning ticket to one of my regular customers,” he said.
“I am so happy for him and I wish him all the best. What a great surprise! Congratulations.
“We have sold a few major prizes in the past, and we are so glad to have sold another.
“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak.”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, 4,182,602 winners pocketed more than $214.2 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
