A Townsville man has declared there is a ‘smooth road ahead’ of him after he checked his Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket four days after the draw and realised he was now a millionaire.
The North Queensland winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4047 drawn Wednesday 27 January 2021 and takes home a prize of $1 million.
The ticket was unregistered, so officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winner and had to wait for him to come forward to claim his prize.
Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the stoked winner recounted the moment he realised he’d scored division one.
“Wahoo! It’s a really, really, really good feeling!” he exclaimed.
“I checked my ticket on the app last night. I buy a few tickets into different draws throughout the week and then check them all at once at the end of the week.
“When I scanned my ticket I saw the confetti fly around the screen and I thought to myself, ‘you beauty – I must have won $1,000.’
“Then I looked again and thought, ‘hang on, I think it’s $100,000’.
“It wasn’t until I checked it again that I realised it was a million! I just couldn’t believe it!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy life as a newly-minted millionaire, the happy bloke said it would go a long way towards a stress-free life.
“It’s been a long, winding, bumpy road through life but this will just mean it’s a smooth road ahead from here on out,” he declared.
“It’s going to set us up to be able to retire a bit earlier. We won’t have to stress about a thing.
“Australia is such a beautiful country, and we hope to see a lot more of it when we retire. I think we’ll do a big tour around and just take our time.
“It’s very, very, very good!”
The division one winning entry was purchased at Nextra Willows Express, Shop 2 Willows Shopping Centre, 13 Hervey Range Road, Thuringowa Central.
Nextra Willows Express manager Roslyn Brown said she was thrilled to hear the winner had been united with his prize.
“That’s just wonderful news! We love hearing that our winners have claimed their prize and finding out what they are planning to do with it!” she exclaimed.
“It’s great to have had a win in Townsville. There has been a lot of hype about it from the customers.

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4047 on Wednesday 27 January 2021 were 36, 39, 38, 45, 13 and 21, while the supplementary numbers were 42 and 33.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4047 – the entry from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 256 so far this financial year, including 59 won by Golden Casket customers.
In 2020, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto created 93 millionaires across Australia.
