A South Coast grandfather has found himself “walking in a dream” after winning more than $1.2 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The New South Wales retiree held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 3929, drawn Saturday 16 March 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,279,122.52.
Confirming his life-changing win with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the man revealed he discovered his good fortune on Sunday morning. However when the amount was confirmed today, he started screaming.
“That’s wonderful! Thank you very much. This is life changing!” he rejoiced.
“I’ve been buying lottery tickets for decades!
“I’m feeling elated. It’s such a great feeling!
“I was absolutely thrilled when I received an email on Saturday night saying I’d won a prize.
“I saw the email on Sunday morning and then I checked the numbers online and I just thought ‘wow’!
“It’s like I’ve been walking in a dream! It’s just great!
“We’re very excited! I feel so elated. It has transformed our lives.
“Not just for me and my wife but for our children and grandchildren as well.
Although the man had been playing lottery for decades, he revealed he had only just started marking his entry with his chosen numbers.
“About three weeks ago I decided to start marking my entries,” he explained.
“But it’s ironic because the winning numbers weren’t my favourite numbers, they were actually numbers I marked at complete random!
The winner described himself as a down-to-earth man who had worked hard his entire life.
“We’ve always lived very humbly and now we will be able to holiday and tick off some items on our bucket list!” he exclaimed.
“We will be able to visit friends and relatives all over the world.
“We will be able to travel very comfortably. We wouldn’t have even been able to consider that before winning Saturday Lotto!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 24-game entry at Ulladulla Lotteries and Souvenirs, 15 Wason Street, Ulladulla.
Ulladulla Lotteries and Souvenirs owner Rob Doyle said the entire team was celebrating selling their first division one winning entry.
“When we first heard that we had sold a division one winning entry we were so excited and we started decorating the store immediately, not knowing if the customer would come in early,” he said.
“All our customers are very excited that we have sold a division one winning entry and are looking forward to the next one. A lot of them say that things come in threes!
“We took over ownership of the outlet at the end of last year so this is our first division one win in the three months that we have owned it.
“We wish the winner all the best for the future and congratulations on their win!
“We can’t wait to sell another one!”
In 2018, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 194 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3929 on Saturday 16 March 2019 were 42, 15, 31, 12, 1 and 8, while the supplementary numbers were 32 and 36.
Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3929, one each from Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 264 so far this financial year, including 73 won by Saturday Lotto customers.
In the 12 months to 31 December 2018, there were 280 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $306.19 million.
