A Roseville couple admitted it took them almost two weeks to check their Lucky Lotteries ticket because they wanted to prolong the dream of winning — little did they know the ticket held a $200,000 prize.

The New South Wales players won the 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1500, drawn Monday 7 September 2020.

The winning ticket was unregistered, so officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this afternoon, the elated pair relayed the moment they discovered their win.

“When we buy lottery tickets, we never check them straight away,” the winning woman explained.

“We always keep them in our wallet because it keeps the dream alive, I always think I could be a winner.

“Anyway, when we went out on the weekend, I went to get a few things and my husband finally checked the ticket.

“He called me into the newsagency, and I thought it was just because he’d forgotten his wallet and needed to pay for something.

“As I was pulling my wallet out of my pocket, he said to me ‘I don’t need any money, it’s the opposite’.

“That’s when he told me. We were just staring at each other, completely stunned.

“I always have dreamt about winning, but to actually win is incredible.

“We celebrated by going to have fish and chips on the beach.

“Every time we walk past the newsagency, we see the sign about the winner, and we quietly whisper to each other ‘That’s us, we’re the winner’. It’s a great feeling.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their prize, the ecstatic couple said it provided them with a sense of security.

“We have decided we are going to save most of it, just as a safety net. In times like these, everything just feels a little unstable, so we would prefer to keep it,” she shared.

“Although I am going to get myself a new phone, as this one has just about had it.”

The winning entry was purchased at Roseville Newsagency, 41 Hill Street, Roseville.

Roseville Newsagency owner Adrian Farmer said he couldn’t be happier for the winning couple.

“What a great surprise for them,” he said.

“We are very happy for the winners and hope they enjoy their prize.

“Fingers crossed this is the start of our winning streak and we can sell some more major prize winning entries in Lucky Lotteries.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $1.72 million for draw 1502 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $4.14 million for draw 10412.
