Forget the bottle of champagne, a Townsville father is looking forward to a three-kilogram steak at the local pub after snagging a $100,000 lottery prize this morning.
The North Queensland man scored the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10494, drawn Tuesday 5 October 2021.
When an official from The Lott finally got a hold of the unassuming winner to confirm the news, he was left dumbfounded by the exciting revelation.
“A win is always a nice surprise! It's extraordinary!” he laughed.
“I was minding my own business this morning until I realised I had a couple of missed calls while my phone was on silent. I also had a new email. I thought to myself, ‘this must be important’.
“When I opened the email, I said ‘oh god, this is a scam’. I’ve had so much spam and it’s been driving me bananas!
“Everything took a turn when I opened my account on The Lott app. I saw I’d won $100,000! It’s very nice.
“I’m going to ring my son soon; he might dance up and down a few times.
“You’ve made my day! What a lovely phone call.”
With the mouth-watering windfall about to hit his bank account, the cheery man said he’d be sensible with his prize.
“It will be nice to pay off some bills and have some more money in the bank. It’s going to be really handy to have.” he shared.
“In terms of celebrating the win, my wife and I always said if we won a major lottery prize that we’d go out and enjoy a nice three-kilogram steak. I guess this is the time!”
His winning entry of five random numbers was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $3.88 million for draw 1547, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $3.10 million for draw 10495.
