A Townsville man has admitted to checking his division one winning lottery ticket over and over again as he struggled to believe he’d won a million-dollar Wednesday Gold Lotto prize.
The north Queenslander held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3993, drawn Wednesday 22 July 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
Confirming his win with an official from the Lott this afternoon, the man said he couldn’t quite believe the life-changing news.
“Wow,” he managed eventually.
“Thank you. Thank you.
“I just realised the news was true today.
“I checked my ticket over and over again, and I still didn’t believe it.
“A lot of things are running through my mind right now. I am so excited!
“I only just started buying lottery tickets a few weeks ago.
“I cannot believe this has happened to me. It’s amazing.”
When asked how he imagined life as a millionaire, the winner said he still couldn’t contemplate it.
“Oh gosh, I have no idea,” he said.
“First of all, I will help my family.
“Then the rest I don’t know. I will have to really think about it.
“I’ve never imagined being a millionaire!”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at NewsExtra Centro, Shop 6, Centro Plaza, Nathan Street. Aitkenvale.
In 2019, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 203 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3993 on Wednesday 22 July 2020 were 40, 1, 7, 8, 4 and 39 while the supplementary numbers were 17 and 44.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3993 – the entry from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 215 so far this year, including 61 won by Golden Casket customers.
