A Townsville man has described his Instant Scratch-Its win as a “life changer” after scratching one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for the next ten years while on his way to work.
The winning $10 Live the Life ticket was purchased at Fullham Road Newsagency, Shop 6 & 7, 120-124 Fullham Road, Gulliver.
Sharing his excitement with an official from the Lott this morning, the North Queenslander said he was still coming to terms with the news.
“I’m over the moon!” he exclaimed.
“Thank you very much. I still can’t believe it.
“I grabbed a scratchie on my way to work. I scratched it straight away and couldn’t get over what I was seeing.
“I just stared at the ticket for quite a while and had to pass it to my mate to get him to double check it.
“It was unbelievable! Such a fantastic day.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the winner said there was no doubt he’d be enjoying every moment of it.
“It has come at an incredible time for me,” he said.
“It couldn’t have worked out better.
“I’ll be buying myself a new house and I’ll be taking regular holidays.
“I’ve worked hard for a long time so I will certainly be enjoying it!
“This is a life changer, no doubt about that!”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
