Yamba man jumping for joy after bagging $1.4 million Saturday Lotto windfall

A Yamba man admits that after decades of playing Saturday Lotto he’d almost given up on the winning the big one, until he woke on Sunday morning and discovered he’d scored $1.4 million.

“I’m pretty bloody good today mate! What a way to kick start the week,” he laughed when an official from The Lott called to confirm his incredible win.

“It’s unbelievable! I never expected this to happen. I’d honestly given up on winning the big one before this happened.

“I woke up really early on Sunday morning and checked my entry but thought I hadn’t won anything.

“After falling back to sleep and waking up at a reasonable hour I thought, ‘I’d better check that again just to be sure’.

“I tell you what, I nearly fell of my chair it was such a shock.

“I’ve never seen that many numbers looking back at me!

“I’ll pay off my mortgage and take some time to figure out what I want to do next.

“It will certainly change my life though.”

His winning 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Yamba Fair Newsagency, Shop 20 Yamba Fair Shopping Centre, 1-3 Treelands Drive, Yamba.

Yamba Fair Newsagency owner Johanna Court said the team was also jumping for joy at the news they’d sold a division one winning entry.

“This is incredible! We’re so happy for our winning customer but we also feel like we’ve won!” she said.

“It’s already creating a buzz around the shop and the excitement within the community is palpable.

“Everyone will wish it was them and it is sure to be the talk of the town for weeks to come.

“We’d like to congratulate our winner and wish them all the best for the future. We’re so happy for them.”

A Ballina woman has let the tears flow freely after discovering she’d won more than $1.4 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

“Oh my god! Are you about to tell me I’ve won a million dollars?” the winning woman asked when an official from The Lott called to confirm her windfall.

“Oh my goodness. I can’t stop crying! Tears are streaming down my face.

“This is life-changing for my whole family.

“With the cost of living growing higher and higher, increasing interest rates and trying to get ahead, it’s been really hard.

“This is going to relieve the stresses of life.

“I don’t know what to do! I need to call my kids!

“Thank you so much. I can’t believe it.”

The woman’s marked 9-game entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

Grandson of the year! Dapto grandmother’s life changed forever with gifted $1.42 million Saturday Lotto ticket

A Dapto grandmother has a new favourite in the family after the Saturday Lotto ticket she received for Mother’s Day delivered her a $1.42 million prize.

The Wollongong woman admitted she was still recovering from the revelation she’s a newly minted millionaire despite discovering her newfound fortune on Sunday morning.

“Oh my god! Woo-hoo!” she chuckled.

“I’m still in shock. I found out yesterday morning when my daughter had come up.

“My grandson had sent it down to me for Mother’s Day.

“It’s definitely an unforgettable Mother’s Day!

“I’ve struggled to sleep last night, and probably won’t sleep at all tonight as well.

“Thank you so much.”

Her winning 24-game QuickPick was purchased at The Foundry Murwillumbah, 90-92 Murwillumbah Street, Murwillumbah.

The Foundry Murwillumbah owner Lee Kirkwood said it was a fantastic feeling to have sold a division one winning entry.

“To think that we have had a hand in potentially changing someone’s life is just indescribable. The news is spreading around the town and our community will be ecstatic,” he said.

“We will take time this week to continue to share the excitement with our great team and our customers as they come to check their tickets – big or small wins, we would love to share this moment with them.

“Since we opened as The Foundry in 2018, we have been hoping that we could share in the celebration with a fortunate winner.

“We cannot begin to comprehend what it would be like to win big. We’re so happy for our winner and we wish them all the best with the prize.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4363 on 13 May 2023 were 33, 23, 24, 36, 22 and 6, while the supplementary numbers were 18 and 34.

Across Australia, there were 14 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4363 – four each in Western Australia and New South Wales and three each in Queensland and Victoria.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 361 so far this financial year, including 112 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In 2022, Saturday Lotto created 171 millionaires across Australia.

During this time, there were 330 division one winning in Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $456.6 million.
