A West Lakes woman has confessed she was “as still as a statue” from the shock of a $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize while out doing her weekly shop.

The happy winner held a Spot 8 winning entry in Keno draw 2698247, drawn Thursday 17 December 2020 and takes home a $50,000 prize.

Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott, the winner recounted the moment she discovered her major Keno win.

“You could have knocked me over with a feather!” she exclaimed.

“I play every week on a Thursday when I go out to do my shopping.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for about 15 years. I chose them at random and like them so just play them every week.

“I was sitting having a coffee, looking at the screen, and I saw the first few numbers come out.

“I thought to myself ‘those are my numbers, hang on, that’s my number too’. I went still as a statue as they kept coming out.

“I thought I had all of them, but I didn’t believe it until I saw it flash up on the screen that a $50,000 win had happened in the store.

“I was so shocked, I just left the shops. I didn’t even pick up my groceries. I went home, and my daughter asked me why I was home so early!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her Keno windfall, the humble woman said she would have to let the news sink in first before making any decisions.

“I’m going to leave it in the bank for a while and have a think about it in the new year,” she explained.

“I don’t want to go nuts and spend it all before I’ve had a chance to have a long hard think about it.

“I’m still shocked, to be honest. I don’t think I’ll believe it until I see it in my bank account.

“I thought for sure I’d made a mistake or the girl behind the counter had made a mistake.

“I’m very happy with what I’ve got! This is just a great bonus!”

The winning Spot 8 entry was purchased at West Lakes Lottery Kiosk, K11 West Lakes Shopping Centre, Brebner Drive, West Lakes.

West Lakes Lotteries Kiosk owner Pat Sepe said it was exciting to hear his outlet had sold a major Keno prize.

“When my colleague shared the exciting news with me, she was reduced to tears of joy! We were ever so thrilled, and it was the greatest feeling to share in the joy of the win.

“I felt very proud that our outlet had sold another win as my team strive hard for the best results, and we always go the extra mile on customer service.

“Wins like this make our team even more passionate about what we do, and it’s amazing to see our customers being rewarded with good fortune.

“We’ll be celebrating both Christmas and the Keno Spot 8 win with a sea of yellow tinsel.

“Over the past four years, we’ve sold three division one winning entries and now a Spot 8 win, so I’m sure our customers will be very excited for us, and we’ll be busy with customers seeing of they can continue our lucky streak.

“A huge congratulations to our winner! What a fantastic Christmas surprise and what a wonderful bonus in such a challenging year.

“No doubt their Christmas will be bright and a promising year ahead!”
