Six weeks after the draw, a pair of young Morphett Vale mates are planning a nice steak dinner to celebrate scoring a $50,000 Keno Spot 8 win.
The Adelaide pair held a Keno Spot 8 winning entry in draw 2666028 drawn Tuesday 15 September 2020 and share a $50,000 prize.
The winning entry was unregistered, so The Lott officials had no way of contacting the winners to break the life-changing news and instead had to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.
Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott, one of the stoked winners admitted he had discovered their win the day after the draw, but couldn’t get the time off work to claim the prize.
“I checked the ticket the next day and realised I had won, but unfortunately I couldn’t get out of work before now to claim the prize!” he confessed.
“I ended up having to take a half day just so I could do it but it was definitely worth it!
“I kept the ticket pretty safe the whole time. I always knew where it was! I wasn’t letting it out of my sight!
“I actually bought the ticket with a mate. We always go halves in our Keno tickets.
“When I called him to tell him we’d won, he didn’t believe me! He might believe me once the money goes into the bank account!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his share of the $50,000 windfall, the humble guy said he’d invest it for his future.
“I was planning on putting most of it away for the future, I don’t want to blow it!” he declared.
“That said, I do want to have some fun with it, but I’m just not sure what yet.
“Me and my mate will head down to the marina for a nice meal. Might splurge on a steak dinner to celebrate.”
The winning entry was purchased at Morphett Vale IGA, 171 Elizabeth Road, Morphett Vale.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 28 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $4.46 million. The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.66 million was won by a Whyalla player in December 2019, and a prize of more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2020.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
