A Tweed Heads woman has been savouring the silly season, holding onto a $10,000 winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket she was gifted for Christmas.
The winning $1 Lots O’Luck ticket was purchased at Tweed City News, Shop 245, Tweed City Shopping Centre, Tweed Heads South.
Sharing her joy with a NSW Lotteries official this morning to confirm her prize, the woman revealed she’d had a Christmas she’d never forget.
“I received this winning ticket as a Christmas gift,” she explained.
“I scratched it then and there on Christmas Day and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“It was absolutely amazing!
“I’ve never won anything like it in my life.
“It was an extra special Christmas, that’s for sure.”
The winning woman explained she couldn’t have thought of a better way to kick off the new year.
“2020 has certainly got off to a fantastic start,” she said.
“I’m going to save my prize to put towards an amazing holiday.
“I cannot wait!”
Tweed City News employee Sue Woods said the year had also started on a high for the outlet.
“It’s wonderful to hear one of our local customers has won this amazing prize,” she said.
“It’s been a little while since we’ve had a winner in store so it’s a great way to start 2020.
“We’re so happy for her and hope she enjoys her prize!”
In 2019, there were 114 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $9.61 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $208.8 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
