A Doncaster man in his 50s is happily pondering his life as a newly-minted millionaire after scoring division one in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.
The Victorian held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday Lotto draw 4014, drawn Monday 5 October 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
When an official from The Lott contacted the winner this morning, the happy man revealed he discovered the million-dollar news just before bed last night.
“I was checking my numbers last night. They’re numbers I’ve been playing for a while, but they’re just random ones,” he explained.
“I initially thought I had five numbers and got excited about that. But then I checked sometime later and saw I had six!
“I just couldn’t’ believe it. I didn’t get much sleep last night after that!”
While the new millionaire had yet to decide exactly how he would enjoy his prize, he admitted the win had come at the perfect time as the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted his job.
“It hasn’t really sunk in. I’m sure that will take a while. So, for now, I’ll be doing a bit of pondering about how best to use the money,” he said.
“With everything going on, it’s just a relief and a huge help. It gives me and my family a lot more security. It’s been quite a challenging time.
“For now, we can’t wait to go out and celebrate the win when we’re able to!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 12-game entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s Official Lotteries.
Last financial year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 86 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4014 on Monday 5 October 2020 were 37, 7, 39, 5, 28 and 22, while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 14.
Across Australia, there was only one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4014 – the entry from Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 305 so far this calendar year, including 120 won by Tatts customers.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 101 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $98 million.
