A Golden Square man has declared he will have “no worries” for the rest of his life after scoring a division one prize worth over $928,000 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The Victorian man held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4095 drawn Saturday 17 October 2020. Each division one winning entry took home a prize of $928,717.17.

Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the winner recounted the moment he discovered the life-changing news.

“Thank you very, very much! It’s great! I’m over the moon!” he exclaimed.

“I’ve never even won a chook raffle! I’d reckon this is a bit better than winning one of those anyway!

“I checked the numbers yesterday. I was looking at my ticket and counting off the numbers, and I saw that I had five winning numbers.

“So I looked at it again to make sure, and that’s when I realise I had six! It feels great!

“I’ve been playing every week since I started working about 40 years ago. I can’t even remember why I chose those numbers all those years ago.

“I always say ‘good things come to those who wait’ and this certainly proves that it is true!

“I’m very, very happy right now!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his TattsLotto windfall, the happy winner revealed he already had a few ideas on how to put it to good use.

“I’ve got a fair bit of work to do around my house so I’ll spend a bit of it doing it up,” he explained.

“I’ll put in a new kitchen, new bathroom, new floor coverings. It will feel like a brand new house which is a good feeling.

“I also want to share it with my family. I reckon that’s what winning the lottery is all about. Making sure your family is all right too.

“I’m a semi-retired tradie, and work is getting harder and harder to get up for every day so I might think about retiring.

“I’ll have no worries for the rest of my life now!”

The thrilled winner also declared he would be celebrating once restrictions have lifted.

“I’ll definitely do something to celebrate once the restrictions have lifted,” he explained.

“Once we can have 20 or so people at a restaurant I’ll book it to celebrate with my family.

“In the meantime, I’ll be going somewhere to do something to mark the occasion!”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 8 game marked entry at Golden Square Newsagency, 303 High Street, Golden Square.

Golden Square Newsagency team member Emma Watson said she was thrilled her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

“We’ve got a rich history of selling division one prizes, but we’ve been in a bit of a drought the last few years,” she explained.

“We are very pleased to have finally sold another one, and this one makes it 27 for our store!

“The last time we sold a division one winning entry was a syndicate share in December 2018, before that was 2013.

“We also sell quite a few division two and three prizes with our last division two just a month ago.

“I’m sure it will be a big week for us! It’s only Monday, and there is already a real buzz around the place.

“Our customers will be thrilled that someone from Golden Square has won. It’s put a smile on our faces during a tough year, and I think our customers will see that there is hope for 2020 yet!

“Congratulations to our winner! We are thrilled to have played a part in such a big moment for them!”
